Sequence Stratigraphic Surfaces

Sequence Stratigraphic Surfaces is a sequence stratigraphic framework concept that refers to a set of laterally continuous, genetically related stratigraphic surfaces—such as sequence boundaries, transgressive surfaces, and maximum flooding surfaces—that demarcate successions of genetically related strata and serve to define the hierarchical architecture of sedimentary basins in response to changes in relative sea level, sediment supply, and subsidence.
