Sentence Modification is a judicial remedy within the appellate and postconviction relief framework that permits a court to alter the severity, structure, or conditions of a criminal sentence after its initial imposition, distinguishing it from other remedies by specifically targeting the sentence rather than the conviction or procedural validity.
