Semantic Reanalysis is a theoretical construct in historical semantics that denotes the diachronic reinterpretation of a linguistic form’s meaning, whereby a word or expression undergoes a reorganization of its semantic features in relation to its syntactic or pragmatic context, resulting in a structurally or cognitively distinct sense from its earlier usage.
