Self-assembled Monolayers

Self-Assembled Monolayer is a molecularly ordered, single-layer assembly of organic molecules that spontaneously forms on a solid surface through chemisorption or physisorption, distinguished by its well-defined, anisotropic structure and driven by specific intermolecular and substrate–molecule interactions within the broader class of surface-modified interfaces.
