Segmentation From Volume Rendering is an academic method that derives spatially coherent segmentations of volumetric data by directly exploiting illumination, occlusion, and depth cues intrinsic to volume rendering pipelines, thereby integrating classification or boundary detection within the rendering process rather than as a separate pre- or post-processing step.
