Second Dredge-up

Second Dredge-Up is a stellar evolutionary process in which convective mixing during the asymptotic giant branch phase transports nuclear-processed material from the interior to the outer layers of a low- to intermediate-mass star, distinguishing it from the first and third dredge-up events by occurring during the core helium-burning phase with partial hydrogen-burning shell quiescence.
