Saintly Imagery
Saintly Imagery is a genre of religious visual representation within Counter-Reformation Art that specifically depicts saints in idealized, emotionally resonant, and doctrinally edifying forms to promote Catholic piety, distinguish orthodox sanctity from Protestant critique, and reinforce ecclesiastical authority through miraculous, devotional, and hagiographic narratives.
