Russell-saunders Coupling

Russell-Saunders Coupling is a quantum mechanical coupling scheme within atomic physics in which the orbital angular momenta and spin angular momenta of electrons are coupled separately to form total orbital and total spin angular momentum, respectively, before combining into a total angular momentum, under conditions where spin-orbit interactions are considered weak compared to electrostatic interactions.
