River-tide Interaction

River-Tide Interaction is a hydrodynamic phenomenon in estuarine systems characterized by the nonlinear superposition and mutual modification of riverine freshwater discharge and tidal oscillations, through which the relative magnitudes and phase relationships of fluvial and tidal forcings govern the spatial and temporal patterns of water level, flow velocity, and sediment transport in the estuary.
