Rime Formation

Rime Formation is a microphysical process in atmospheric science whereby supercooled water droplets freeze upon contact with solid surfaces, particularly airborne ice nuclei or precipitation particles, distinguished from other phase-transition phenomena by its rapid, direct deposition and accumulation of ice in subfreezing, high-humidity environments such as orographic cloud systems.
