Ridge Extraction

Ridge Extraction is a feature detection method in multiscale flow visualization that identifies coherent structures by locating lines of local maxima in a scalar field across spatial scales, distinguished from other feature extraction techniques by its reliance on differential geometric properties of the field to define ridges as higher-dimensional analogs of peaks.
