Return Activated Sludge

Return Activated Sludge is the portion of activated sludge biomass, consisting of microorganisms and organic matter, that is recirculated from the secondary clarifier back to the aeration tank in the activated sludge process to maintain adequate microbial population for wastewater treatment.
