Resonance Self-shielding

Resonance Self-Shielding is a phenomenon in neutron transport theory where the effective absorption cross-section of a resonance nuclide is reduced at specific energy ranges due to the preferential absorption of neutrons in the outer regions of a fuel volume, thereby shielding the interior nuclei from the full incident neutron flux.
