Refugee Rights

Refugee Rights is the body of international legal entitlements and protections accorded to individuals who qualify as refugees, derived principally from the 1951 Refugee Convention, its 1967 Protocol and related human rights instruments, and distinguished from the general rights of migrants or non-nationals by tying specific substantive and procedural guarantees—including non-refoulement—to the possession or claim of refugee status.
