Reference Radiation Selection

Reference Radiation Selection is the methodological process of identifying and standardizing a specific type of ionizing radiation, typically low-linear energy transfer radiation such as 250 kVp X-rays or cobalt-60 gamma rays, to serve as a benchmark for comparing the biological effects of other radiation types in the determination of relative biological effectiveness.
