Recovery-Based Error Estimation is a method of error estimation in numerical analysis that belongs to the class of post-processing techniques and is distinguished by its use of recovered solutions or gradients—derived from smoothing or enhancement of numerical approximations—to assess and improve the accuracy of finite element or discretization errors.
