Recitative Interpretation

Recitative Interpretation is an academic construct within the field of music performance studies that denotes the analytical and expressive methodology employed to render dramatic and textual meaning in recitative, a style of vocal delivery in operatic and sacred music that imitates the rhythms and intonations of natural speech, thereby distinguishing it from other forms of musical interpretation through its emphasis on linguistic fidelity and dramatic immediacy within a minimally structured musical framework.
