Reactive Extraction

Reactive extraction is an integrated chemical engineering separation technique that combines a chemical reaction with liquid-liquid extraction. This method investigates systems where a solute undergoes a specific reaction, often with a reagent present in one of the phases, to enhance its transfer, selectivity, or overall efficiency of separation between immiscible liquids compared to simple physical extraction. Its significance lies in enabling the recovery or removal of target substances that are difficult to extract directly, facilitating processes in chemical synthesis, purification, and environmental technology.
