Pugh Clause
A Pugh Clause is a contractual provision in oil and gas leasing that partitions a leased area into a de minimis portion subject to continued development and the remainder, which automatically reverts to the lessor upon expiration of the primary term, thereby preventing indefinite retention of the entire tract based on minimal production elsewhere.
