Prose Edda

The "Prose Edda" is a medieval Icelandic prose compendium on poetics and Old Norse mythology, composed in the early 13th century by Snorri Sturluson, that systematically codifies the language, meter, and mythological content of skaldic poetry within a didactic framework distinct from the more archaic, verse-based "Poetic Edda."
