Proenzyme Activation

Proenzyme Activation is a biochemical process in which an inactive precursor enzyme, known as a proenzyme, undergoes a specific molecular transformation—typically through proteolytic cleavage or conformational change—that confers catalytic activity, thereby distinguishing it from other enzyme regulatory mechanisms by its reliance on the conversion of latent forms into functionally active enzymes.
