Preprohormone Structure

Preprohormone Structure is a molecular precursor construct in peptide hormone biosynthesis that consists of a nascent polypeptide chain containing an amino-terminal signal peptide, a cleavable prohormone region, and the mature hormone sequence, distinguished by its role as the initially translated, inactive form requiring proteolytic processing to yield biologically active hormone and intermediate fragments.
