Potential Vorticity Generation

Potential Vorticity Generation is the process by which gradients in buoyancy and wind fields, through diabatic heating and frictional forces, induce changes in the absolute vorticity advected by fluid parcels, thereby producing anomalies in the conserved quantity known as potential vorticity within the framework of geophysical fluid dynamics.
