Posttranslational Targeting is a protein targeting mechanism in which proteins are directed to their appropriate cellular destinations after the completion of translation, distinguishing it from cotranslational targeting by its reliance on fully synthesized polypeptides and specific posttranslational modifications or signal sequences recognized by intracellular sorting machinery.
