Polar Projections is a type of map projection that belongs to the broader class of azimuthal projections, distinguished by its specific orientation in which the projection surface is tangent to the Earth at one of the poles, thereby preserving accurate directional relationships and distances from the pole while typically distorting regions farther toward the equator.
