Planetary Wave Dynamics

Planetary Wave Dynamics is a theoretical framework within atmospheric dynamics that describes the propagation and evolution of large-scale, low-frequency Rossby waves in the presence of mean flow and topographic forcing, distinguishing it from other wave models by its explicit incorporation of β-plane approximation and quasigeostrophic potential vorticity conservation to explain teleconnections in mid-latitude synoptic-scale systems.
