Photon Diffusion Theory

Photon Diffusion Theory is a radiative transfer model that describes the propagation of light in highly scattering media by approximating photon transport as a diffusion process, distinguishing it from deterministic or Monte Carlo methods through its use of continuum-level partial differential equations to predict subsurface light distribution.
