Photoelasticity

Photoelasticity is a phenomenon-based experimental method in polarization optics that belongs to the class of optical strain analysis techniques, distinguished by its use of stress-induced birefringence in transparent materials to visualize and quantify the spatial distribution of mechanical strain under applied loads.
