Patched Conic Approximation

Patched Conic Approximation is a method in spacecraft trajectory design that approximates interplanetary trajectories by dividing the mission into distinct gravitational spheres of influence, within each of which the spacecraft's motion is modeled as a two-body conic trajectory, and these conic segments are then patched together at the boundaries to form a continuous escape, gravity-assist, or Hohmann transfer trajectory.
