Passive Margin Deformation is a geological process denoting the mechanical alteration and structural evolution of lithospheric segments at continental margins without active plate boundary forces, distinguished from active margin tectonics by the dominance of gravitational, thermal, and sediment-loading mechanisms in the absence of significant convergence or subduction.
