Parametric Subharmonic Instability

Parametric Subharmonic Instability is a hydrodynamic instability mechanism within the broader class of wave–wave interaction phenomena in which a primary internal wave mode transfers energy to two or more secondary wave modes at nearly half the frequency of the primary mode through resonant triadic interactions, thereby distinguishing it from other instabilities by its specific frequency-subharmonic resonance and parametric amplification process.
