Panel Flutter

Panel Flutter is a dynamic aeroelastic instability characterized by self-sustained oscillations of a thin structural panel induced by supersonic or hypersonic airflow, distinguished from other aeroelastic phenomena by its coupling of aerodynamic, elastic, and inertial forces leading to divergence or limit-cycle behavior in two-dimensional surface structures.
