Over-provisioning

Over-Provisioning is a deliberate design strategy in solid-state storage systems that reserves a portion of the physical storage capacity as a hidden, inaccessible area from the host, thereby distinguishing itself from user-accessible storage by enabling enhanced performance, wear leveling, and longevity of the solid-state drive through improved garbage collection and reduced write amplification.
