Ottoman Calligraphy

Ottoman Calligraphy is a formal system of artistic handwriting that constitutes a distinctive tradition within Islamic calligraphic practice, characterized by its codification, stylistic refinement, and institutionalization under the Ottoman Empire, particularly through the development and predominance of the naskh, thuluth, and taʿliq scripts in religious, administrative, and literary contexts.
