Optical Frequency Conversion

Optical frequency conversion is a fundamental phenomenon and associated research area in optics and photonics concerning the generation of light at new frequencies from existing optical radiation. This is typically accomplished via nonlinear optical interactions within suitable materials, enabling access to spectral regions not directly covered by conventional light sources and facilitating applications such as spectroscopy, quantum optics, and advanced sensing.
