Newar Art

Newar Art is a distinct tradition of Himalayan Buddhist and Hindu art originating in the Kathmandu Valley, characterized by its sophisticated iconography, use of metal, wood, and paubha painting, and continuous patronage by the Newar people, distinguishing it from other regional styles through its syncretic religious themes and preservation of classical Indian artistic conventions.
