New Historicism

New Historicism is a school of literary theory and criticism that interprets literary texts as historically and culturally embedded discursive practices, emphasizing their reciprocal imbrication with the socio-political power relations, ideological formations, and material conditions of the periods in which they are produced and received rather than viewing them as autonomous aesthetic objects.
