Nested Magnetic Surfaces

Nested Magnetic Surfaces is a theoretical construct in plasma physics denoting a continuous family of toroidally nested, closed magnetic flux surfaces that confine charged particles in axisymmetric or non-axisymmetric magnetic confinement devices by forming a hierarchy of magnetic surfaces with increasing minor radius, where each surface represents an invariant manifold of the magnetic field line flow.
