Moral Commentary is a form of critical discourse within Restoration Drama that, as a genre of literary analysis, evaluates characters, actions, and societal norms according to prevailing ethical standards, thereby distinguishing itself by its didactic function of reinforcing or challenging moral values in the socio-cultural context of late 17th-century English theatre.
