Mid51-mediated Fission

MiD51-Mediated Fission is a molecular mechanism of mitochondrial fission in which the mitochondrial dynamics protein MiD51 directly recruits and activates the GTPase Drp1 to initiate constriction of the mitochondrial outer membrane, distinguishing it from other fission pathways by its specific dependence on MiD51 as a nucleoid-associated receptor.
