Matrix-based Controlled Release
Matrix-Based Controlled Release is a type of controlled-release system in which the active agent is uniformly dispersed within or dissolved in a polymeric or inert matrix material, from which it is released primarily through diffusion and/or matrix erosion, distinguishing it from reservoir- or osmotic-based systems by the absence of a surrounding membrane and reliance on the bulk properties of the matrix.
