Mass Transfer Limitations
Mass Transfer Limitations is a phenomenon in immobilized enzyme systems wherein the rate of substrate diffusion to, or product diffusion away from, the enzyme's active site is restricted due to the physical barrier imposed by the immobilization matrix, thereby reducing the overall catalytic efficiency compared to free enzyme systems.
