Mamluk Islamization
Mamluk Islamization is a historical process denoting the systematic integration and institutionalization of Sunni Islamic doctrine, practice, and scholarly culture within the Mamluk Sultanate’s political and military elite, distinguishing it through the transformation of slave-soldiers into self-consciously orthodox rulers who promoted religious orthodoxy as a legitimizing ideology of state power.
