Lumpability

Lumpability is a structural property of a Markov process whereby a partition of the state space induces a coarse-grained process that itself satisfies the Markov property, ensuring that transition probabilities between aggregates depend only on the current aggregate state and not on the internal states or the path taken within the original process.
