Low-level Jet Forecasting
Low-Level Jet Forecasting is a mesoscale meteorological forecasting method that specifically predicts the formation, strength, and evolution of low-level jets—intense, narrow bands of accelerated horizontal airflow in the lower troposphere—by leveraging high-resolution numerical weather prediction models and observational data to distinguish it from broader synoptic-scale wind forecasting techniques.
