Lost-profits Causation

Lost-Profits Causation is a legal-economic principle within patent damages that establishes the causal link between a patent infringement and the claimant’s lost profits by demonstrating that but-for the infringing act, the claimant would have made the sales or profits that were instead captured by the infringer.
