Lost World Narrative

Lost World Narrative is a subgenre of Adventure Fiction in which the central plot revolves around the discovery of a remote, isolated setting harboring extinct species, ancient civilizations, or prehistoric phenomena, distinguished from other adventure narratives by its emphasis on geographical and temporal isolation as a means of exploring themes of scientific curiosity, colonialism, and human evolution.
