Long-patch Base Excision Repair

Long-Patch Base Excision Repair is a DNA repair subpathway within the base excision repair mechanism that replaces a damaged nucleotide by excising a short oligonucleotide fragment and synthesizing a repair patch of 2–10 nucleotides, distinguished from short-patch repair by its reliance on strand displacement and the involvement of proliferating cell nuclear antigen, replication factor C, and DNA polymerase δ or ε.
