Lodgement Till

Lodgement Till is a type of glacial till that is deposited subglacially through the direct, cohesive emplacement of sediment beneath a glacier or ice sheet as a result of the melting of basal ice or the loss of shear strength at the ice-bed interface, distinguished from other tills by its formation mechanism involving frictional freezing to the glacier sole and typically exhibiting a dense, compacted fabric with evidence of deformation in place.
