Light Motifs

Light Motifs is a theological construct in Johannine scholarship that refers to the recurring symbolic representation of divine revelation, spiritual truth, and Christological identity through the image of light, distinguishing it within the Gospel of John’s narrative and discursive patterns as a central metaphor for revelation and moral discernment.
